The approval of the 4686/2020 Law by the Greek Parliament back in June of 2020 was the first practical step to simplifying the procedure for foreign investors to purchase immovable property in the Hellenic Republic, without the obligation for the foreign investor to visit the country. Following the increased interest amongst applicants, on December 23rd of 2020, the Government took a further step by voting the amendment Law N. 4764/4040 and accelerating the procedure in the following way:
i) The applicant appoints a legal representative in the Hellenic Republic
ii) The legal representative assists the applicant with the preparation of all the relevant documentation, without the presence of the applicant being required.
iii) The applicant chooses a real estate property of his/her choice, with the assistance of the appointed legal representative
iv) The legal representative submits the application accompanied by all the necessary documentation
v) A 12-month blue temporary permit is issued and received on the behalf of the applicant and their dependent family members by the legal representative
vi) The applicant and holder of the blue temporary permit may visit Greece for the submission of their biometric data within a time period of 12 months from the date of submission of the application.
vii) The procedure is finalized and the applicant, along with their dependent family members and spouse, receive the Greek Golden Visa.
